SDS Initiates New Alert System
System receives trial by "Hurricane"

Hurricane Irene hit the Northeast with a wallop this Sunday. It hit Mid-Atlantic States the day before. The storm created an array of problems throughout the Eastern seaboard and it also put the new SDS alert system to the test for the first time.
The new alert system is designed to give a very brief description of anticipated delays to all relevant parties within the SDS network. In particular it is designed to make decision makers aware of any pending delays. It is not intended to provide detailed information - but it gives all involved a sense that a delay is possible and that they contact SDS contact directly if more details are required. The SDS team on the ground will continue to communicate as it always has - providing details as it gets them, but this helps offset a growing challenge, which is getting in touch with everybody in the need to know. In short, it gives the client the ability to get informed in a simple and effective way - to the people they identify as critical.
Heres how it works:
- Go to www.sdsgl.com and on the right hand side near the top you will see a group of hyperlinks called Shipping Alerts. There are groups that are summarized by category: US Domestic Pouch, International, New York Tri-State Local Deliveries and Warehousing.
- Select the group(s) that you would like to receive alerts about and you will be placed into a very basic online form which asks for your contact information and your preferred method of contact.
- That's it.
Once you have signed up you receive updates that affect your particular transportation needs. These alerts will not be used often, but they will be used when delays are anticipated.
